   (3) FedEx Express (Connect Plus) is available to countries listed by FedEx,  alternative to FedEx Priority & Economy shipping services.
      If it gets available to your country, FedEx Express is autonatically applied to the shipping service of your order instead without prior notice.
   (4) If you select one of FedEx shipping services, we may ship your order by an equivalent service such as DHL Express or EMS for certain reasons.
   (5) If your shipping address is an remote area where special charge is applied by Fedex, we may ship the order by an equivalent service EMS by Japan Post without prior approval.

Shipping Policy

(1) Packing & Delivery

- We put an individual Tracking Number on every parcel.
- We can ship to virtually any address in the world. Please note that there are restrictions on some products, and some products cannot be shipped to international destinations. 
- We're pleased to wrap your items carefully to avoid breakage in transit.
- Addressee's signature may not be needed upon receipt of the parcel.
- Please note that we do not mark less value, because International government regulations prohibit such behavior.

- Please allow us to take up to 3~5 business days after your payment as our "handling time" excluding Saturday, Sunday, Japanese Public holidays, New-Year (Dec.31~ Jan.3), Golden-Week (May 3~5) and Obon-Holidays (Aug.13~15).
- We'll estimate shipping and delivery dates based on the availability of your items if they need more handling time than the above. 
- After shipping out, it normally take the time in the above tables for delivery.
- The day of arrival may be delayed due the state of affairs in the addressee's country, processing speeds at the customs house, or for political reasons.
  
Russia, East Europe, South America and Africa may need more delivery time than that in the tables. 

[ If you pay with Credit Card directly (not through Paypal) ]
- Your shipping address and billing address must be the same.
- In case that your shipping address and billing address registered in Hocho-Knife is different, we can not ship to your shipping address, because fraudulent acts committed using this matter are often reported and because we're responsible for protecting our customers from such crime.
- If you need to send your order to the shipping address different from the billing one, we're pleased to recommend you to choose the payment service through Paypal with your Credit Card,

- Your shipping address and billing address can be different if the shipping address registered in Hocho-Knife and in Paypal are the same each other.

(2) Shipping fee & Customs duty

- The shipping fee for items is weight-based. The weight of any such item can be found on its detail page.
- Insurance fee and Fuel surcharge are included in the shipping fee in advance.
- It is the buyer's responsibility to pay the Customs duty upon receipt of the item. In case that the parcel were returned(or discarded) by the customs office(or the carrier) because the buyer did not cover the duty, the order shall be deemed to have the buyer's approval of cancellation.
- Some couriers may charge small amount of administration fee to the recipient to process customs duty and VAT.

The buyer is responsible for prior confirmation of the import restrictions imposed at the shipping country on the purchased item and the materials used in it. If the order is sent back to us at the discretion of customs, the original shipping and return shipping fees shall be borne by the buyer.

- If you want to check the total shipping fee beforehand, please follow the steps below,
 (1) add all the items (that you want to order) into Your Shopping Cart 
 (2) click "Estimate Shipping & Tax" just above "Grand Total"
 (3) select your "Country" & "State/Province" from Dropdown menu, and input "Zip/Postcode"
 (4) you'll find the total shipping fee for available shipping methods

(3) Damage in delivery & Insurance

- Damage caused by Transit (other than damage by Customs check) can be covered within the range of the insurance.
- Please check all items before first use, and DO NOT discard the entire package until then. 
In case you find any damage, inform us by e-mail with ALL the following set of clear photos.
 (a) the OUTER package, and its dispatch note of the parcel
 (b) ALL the packing materials, including BUBBLE WRAP (cushioning)
 (c) the WHOLE knife/stone, and inner situation of the parcel
- The insurance coverage is not guaranteed if the above is not available.
- Insurance for Free Shipping is equivalent to those for Standard Shipping and Economy Shipping by Japan Post.

(4) Others

For knives manufactured according to traditional techniques, scratches and dents caused by forging are not subject to claims. Enjoy the traditional style as it is.
- The gap at the joint between the blade and handle by original manufacturing process may not be filled with resin on purpose so as not to spoil the traditional characteristics of the blade.


Return Policy

- You can return an item within 14 days from delivery.
- Prior to the return, should a problem arise please contact us within 7 days after delivery, and provide proof of the difference or defective by clear photos.
- The buyer is responsible for covering shipment fee for the return. We'll pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (i.e. you received a clearly defective or different item from the details of the item page, etc.) Damage caused by customs check and buyer's use will not be considered.

- If you need to return an item, simply login to your account, view the order using the "Complete Orders" link under the My Account menu and click the Return Item(s) button. We'll notify you via e-mail.
- Issued item for return must be unopened & unused, and have ALL original packing and parts.
- For the return, it is necessary to send back the item by a shipping way with its Tracking Number to our ship-from address in Japan written in the original invoice.
  (If the item is returned to a place different from our ship-from address, it shall not be deemed a return and the buyer should cover the cost to forward it to the right address.)

- The refund rate may depend on the item's condition especially if it looks opened, used or lack of original packing & parts. 
   (excluding original shipping fee and cancellation penalty in case of buyer's requests for returns)
   (no refund is applied to the items that are damaged, missing parts, not in the original condition, or have obvious signs of use for reasons not due to seller's error)
- You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving the package to the return shipper, however, in many cases buyer will receive a refund more quickly.

Cancellation Policy 

- No penalty for a cancellation up to 1 hour after placing the order.
- We can not accept a cancellation by any your reason from 1 hour after placing the order.

[Cancellation Penalty]
- If you must cancel it, we regret to say that it is needed to accept to deduct the following percentage from what you paid, and we can refund the rest.

        3% (to 1 hour after placing the order, as Paypal commission fee for refund)
       10% (from 1 hour after placing the order)

       20% (from 24 hours after placing the order)
       30% (from 48 hours after placing the order)
- In case that the parcel were returned to Japan because of your responsibility
(i.e. unpaid of the customs duty, refused to receive, hold time expired, unclaimed, address unknown, etc),
you could cancel the order for refund of the amount, excluding the actual shipping fee that the shop has covered and 30% of the cancellation penalty.

[Cancellation Penalty for back-ordered items]
- If you must cancel it when you wait for the shipment, 
we regret to say that it is needed to accept to deduct the following percentage from what you paid, and we can refund the rest.
       10% (from 1 hour after your agreement to wait for the issued items)
       20% (from 24 hours after your agreement to wait for the issued items)
       30% (from 48 hours after your agreement to wait for the issued items)

[Cancellation Penalty against consecutive or frequent cancellation requests]
- If you request cancellations for your own reason three times in a row in a month or equivalent malicious actions,
   we regret to say that it is needed to accept to deduct 30% from what you paid (regardless of elapsed time from placing order), and we refund the rest.
   Because such an action shall be considered a kind of business interference.

Replacement Policy

- No penalty for a replacement up to 1 hour after placing the order.
- After your acceptance of the payment, we'll issue an invoice for the replacement to you through Paypal. Please kindly pay for it.

[Replacement Penalty]
- If you must replace some items, 
we regret to say that it is needed to accept to deduct the following percentage of the issued items in addition to the gap between the current items and the replaced ones.
       10% (from 1 hour after placing the order)
       20% (from 24 hours after placing the order)
       30% (from 48 hours after placing the order)

[Replacement Penalty for back-ordered items]
- If you must replace some items when you wait for the shipment, 
we regret to say that it is needed to accept to deduct the following percentage of the issued items in addition to the gap between the current items and the replaced ones.
       10% (from 1 hour after your agreement to wait for the issued items)
       20% (from 24 hours after your agreement to wait for the issued items)
       30% (from 48 hours after your agreement to wait for the issued items)

Pre-Order Policy

- "Pre-Ordered Item" is the item which you ordered by clicking the "PRE-ORDER NOW" button in the product page. The button is available when the issued item is out of stock until being restocked.
- The expected release date may be displayed in some product pages. But in case that the expected release date were not displayed, the last day in 6 months after pre-ordering is considered the alternative due date.
- You shall wait for shipment of the item for the amount of time by the expected release date, or up to 6 months in case that the expected release date were not offered, whichever is shorter.

[Cancellation Penalty for Pre-Ordered Item]
- If you must cancel it, we regret to say that it is needed to accept to deduct the following percentage from what you paid, and we can refund the rest.
       10% (from 1 hour after placing the order)
       20% (from 24 hours after placing the order)
       30% (from 48 hours after placing the order)

- While we make every effort to ensure that your pre-ordered item is shipped as quickly as possible, we'll ask you after the expected release date (if we can not ship it) whether you'd like to wait for more amount of time or cancel the item without any penalty.


Outlet Policy

- Regarding the [OUTLET] items, cosmetic blemishes, scratches and dents are not any subject of claim, so please do not buy if you are concerned about them. However these do not affect how the item performs when it comes to its function. All Sales Final.
- Please be noted that the pictures in the product page are representative examples of the sample products. The degree of cosmetic blemishes, scratches and dents may differ from the pictures.


Tips

When you need to send your order to the other address (e.g. your friends and relatives) instead of your original one,
please choose “Expedited Shipping” or "FedEx(Priority, Economy)" in Shipping Method when you place the order.
The “Expedited Shipping” and "FedEx(Priority, Economy)" are available to send other address to prevent your important addressee from a troublesome procedure for appropriate action and insurance in the international Postal/Delivery service when a problem happens such as un-delivery, serious delay and so on.
